The Ford F1 launched in January 1948 as the half ton model in Ford’s first F Series lineup, marketed as Bonus Built trucks. The series ranged all the way up to heavy duty models for commercial work.
Buyers could choose an inline six or Ford’s flathead V8, and the cab was roomier and better insulated than earlier Ford pickups.
Legacy
The F1 started a family of trucks that grew into the F Series, which has been the best selling truck line in America for decades.
Spot It
First generation trucks built from 1948 to 1950 have a horizontal bar grille, while 1951 and 1952 models switched to a wider grille with three bullet style accents.
Before You Buy
Check the frame, cab corners, floors, and bed for rust, confirm the title and serial numbers match, and ask for service records. A local classic truck club or a trusted mechanic can help you judge parts availability and a fair price before you commit.
