The Dodge Sweptside was built from 1957 to 1959 by adding rear fenders with tall fins from a Dodge station wagon to a D100 pickup bed.
The result was one of the most flamboyant pickups of the 1950s, built in small numbers for buyers who wanted to stand out.
Rare Find
Because so few were made and much of the work was done by hand, Sweptsides are rare today and command attention at any show.
Spot It
Look for the long chrome trimmed fins running down the bed sides and the two tone paint common on these trucks.
Before You Buy
Check the frame, cab corners, floors, and bed for rust, confirm the title and serial numbers match, and ask for service records. A local classic truck club or a trusted mechanic can help you judge parts availability and a fair price before you commit.
