The Russian Blue is thought to have come from the port of Arkhangelsk in northern Russia, and it was sometimes called the Archangel Blue.
Its plush double coat is blue gray with silver tips, and its eyes are vivid green. Russian Blues are gentle, loyal, and reserved with strangers.
Care Tips
Brush weekly and keep a consistent routine, since they prefer predictability.
Fun Fact
The silver tipped hairs make the coat appear to shimmer in the light.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
