Frank Hamer (1884 to 1955) served as a Texas Ranger and became one of the most respected manhunters in American history.
In 1934 the head of the Texas prison system hired Hamer to track down Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. After months of following their movements, Hamer and a posse of officers ended the pursuit near Gibsland, Louisiana on May 23, 1934.
Legacy
Hamer’s patient, methodical style of tracking fugitives through informants, travel patterns, and careful planning still offers lessons for investigators today.
