The Balinese is essentially a longhaired Siamese, developed in the United States in the mid 1900s. It has the pointed coloring, vivid blue eyes, and slender body of its Siamese relatives.
Its silky single coat ends in a plumed tail. Balinese are social, intelligent, and talkative, and they like to be involved in whatever you are doing.
Care Tips
The fine coat mats less than many longhair breeds, so weekly combing usually works. Give plenty of attention and interactive play.
Fun Fact
Breeders named it after the graceful dancers of Bali, not because it comes from Indonesia.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
Save this pin to your cat lovers board and share it with a fellow cat fan. Thinking about a new cat? Check Ohio shelters and rescues too.
