The AH64 Apache is the U.S. Army’s primary attack helicopter. It entered service in 1986 and was first developed by Hughes Helicopters.

The Apache has a two person crew, with the pilot seated behind and above the copilot gunner.

Service History

Apaches saw action in the 1991 Gulf War and later in Afghanistan and Iraq, and they are flown by many allied nations.

Boeing now builds the Apache, and updated models include improved sensors and digital cockpits.

See It in Person

Ohio is a great place to see military history up close. The National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton is free and displays hundreds of aircraft, and local veterans memorials, county historical societies, and VFW and American Legion posts across the state often display vehicles and artifacts. Thank a veteran when you visit.
