Most nosebleeds are minor and can be stopped at home.

Sit up and lean slightly forward, then pinch the soft part of the nose firmly for 10 to 15 minutes without letting go.

Pin Tip

Do not tilt the head back. That can cause blood to run down the throat.

When to Get Help

Seek medical care if bleeding does not stop after 20 minutes, follows a head injury or happens often.

Get Trained

This pin is for general education only and does not replace hands on training. Take a certified CPR and first aid course from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and always call 911 in an emergency.
