The Turkish Angora is an ancient breed from the Ankara region of Turkey. The Ankara Zoo has run a long breeding program to protect the breed.

Angoras have silky, single layer coats, often white, and graceful bodies. They are energetic, intelligent, and love to be the center of attention.

Care Tips

Weekly combing is usually enough. Have a vet check hearing, as some white cats can be deaf.

Fun Fact

Turkish Angoras often have odd colored eyes, one blue and one amber.

Is This Breed Right for You?

Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.

Health Basics

Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.

Save this pin to your cat lovers board and share it with a fellow cat fan. Thinking about a new cat? Check Ohio shelters and rescues too.
