The Lykoi, sometimes called the werewolf cat, comes from a natural mutation that causes patchy hair. Breeders in Tennessee began developing it in the early 2010s.
Lykois have a roan coat that mixes white and colored hairs and little fur around the eyes and nose. Despite their spooky look, they are friendly and playful.
Care Tips
Their coat can shed and regrow in patches. Protect them from strong sun and cold, and offer lots of play.
Fun Fact
The name Lykoi comes from the Greek word for wolves.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
