After delivering documents, a process server completes proof of service, often a sworn affidavit.

It records who was served, what was served, when, where and how, and it is filed with the court as evidence that service was completed.

Pin Tip

Keep a copy of the affidavit with your case records.

Why Details Matter

A detailed, accurate affidavit protects the case if the served person later claims they never received the papers.
