The Oriental Shorthair is a close relative of the Siamese, bred in solid colors and patterns instead of only pointed coloring.
It has a long, slender body, large ears, and an almond eyed face. Orientals are vocal, social, and very attached to their people.
Care Tips
Give lots of interaction, since Orientals dislike being alone. The short coat needs minimal grooming.
Fun Fact
The breed is recognized in hundreds of color and pattern combinations.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
