The Cornish Rex began in Cornwall, England, in 1950 with a curly coated kitten named Kallibunker.
Its short, wavy coat lacks the coarse outer guard hairs most cats have, so it feels soft and warm. Cornish Rex cats are slender, energetic, and playful.
Care Tips
Bathe occasionally to manage skin oils, and keep them warm in winter. They love interactive toys and climbing.
Fun Fact
The Cornish Rex’s curved body and long legs give it a greyhound like silhouette.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
