An automated external defibrillator, or AED, can restart a heart that is in a deadly rhythm.

Turn it on and follow the spoken instructions. Place the pads on the bare chest as shown, stand clear while it analyzes and press the shock button if told to.

Pin Tip

Learn where AEDs are located at your workplace, school, gym and church.

Do Not Be Afraid

AEDs are designed for untrained bystanders and will only deliver a shock if one is needed. Resume CPR right after the shock.

Get Trained

This pin is for general education only and does not replace hands on training. Take a certified CPR and first aid course from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and always call 911 in an emergency.
