Hot weather can cause heat exhaustion, which can progress to deadly heat stroke.

Heat exhaustion causes heavy sweating, weakness, dizziness and nausea. Heat stroke may cause confusion, hot skin and loss of consciousness.

Pin Tip

Drink water often on hot days and take breaks in the shade or air conditioning.

What to Do

Move the person to a cool place and cool them with water and fans. For signs of heat stroke, call 911 and cool them rapidly while you wait.

Get Trained

This pin is for general education only and does not replace hands on training. Take a certified CPR and first aid course from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and always call 911 in an emergency.
