Daily Foot Care for Diabetes

October 25, 20261 min readBy PinGallery

Diabetes can reduce sensation and circulation in the feet, so small injuries may go unnoticed and heal slowly.

Check your feet every day for cuts, blisters, redness, or swelling. Wash and dry them carefully, wear well fitting shoes, and never walk barefoot outdoors.

Pin Tip

Use a mirror or ask a family member to help check the bottoms of your feet.

Work With Your Care Team

This pin shares general health information, not medical advice. Diabetes care is personal, so follow the targets, medications, and meal plan set by your doctor, diabetes educator, or dietitian.

Know the Emergency Signs

Call 911 if someone with diabetes becomes confused, cannot stay awake, has a seizure, or cannot safely swallow. Seek urgent care for very high blood sugar with vomiting, deep rapid breathing, or a fruity breath odor.
