International Harvester introduced the Scout 80 in 1961 as a compact four wheel drive vehicle with a short pickup style bed and a removable top. The Scout 800 and Scout II followed, with production ending in 1980.
Scouts were built in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and are often credited as forerunners of today’s sport utility vehicles.

Rugged, simple, and versatile, Scouts have a loyal following, and restored examples now bring strong prices at auctions.
Before You Buy
Check the frame, cab corners, floors, and bed for rust, confirm the title and serial numbers match, and ask for service records. A local classic truck club or a trusted mechanic can help you judge parts availability and a fair price before you commit.
