The Siberian Husky was developed by the Chukchi people of Siberia to pull sleds over long distances in brutal cold.

Huskies are friendly, energetic, and talkative, often with striking blue or multicolored eyes.

Care Tips

They need lots of exercise and a secure yard, as they love to run. They shed heavily.

Fun Fact

Huskies helped deliver diphtheria medicine to Nome, Alaska, during the 1925 serum run.

Is This Breed Right for You?

Before bringing home any dog, think about your space, schedule, budget, and activity level. Meet the dog in person, ask about energy and grooming needs, and consider an adult dog whose personality is already known. Ohio shelters and breed rescues often have purebred dogs and loving mixes waiting for homes.

Health and Training

Schedule a veterinary checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask about health screenings common to the breed. Positive reinforcement training and early socialization help every dog become a confident, well mannered companion.
