The McDonnell F4 Phantom II first flew in 1958 and became one of the most widely used American jets of the Cold War.
It served with the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force, a rare feat for a single aircraft, and saw heavy use in the Vietnam War.
Show Teams
Both the Navy Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds flew the Phantom during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Worldwide Service
More than 5,000 were built, and the Phantom served with many allied countries for decades.
See It in Person
Ohio is a great place to see military history up close. The National Museum of the United States Air Force near Dayton is free and displays hundreds of aircraft, and local veterans memorials, county historical societies, and VFW and American Legion posts across the state often display vehicles and artifacts. Thank a veteran when you visit.
