Sturm, Ruger and Company was founded in 1949 by William B. Ruger and Alexander Sturm in Southport, Connecticut.
Its first product was a .22 pistol, and Ruger grew into one of the largest firearms makers in the United States, known for rugged revolvers, rifles and pistols.
