The Manx comes from the Isle of Man between England and Ireland. A natural gene gives many Manx cats no tail at all, while others have short stumps.
Manx cats have round bodies and longer hind legs, giving them a rabbit like hop. They are playful, loyal, and good hunters.
Care Tips
Choose a breeder who screens for spinal problems, sometimes called Manx syndrome. Brush weekly.
Fun Fact
Tailless Manx are called rumpies, while those with short tails are known as stumpies.
Is This Breed Right for You?
Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.
Health Basics
Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
