The Devon Rex began in Devonshire, England, in 1960 with a curly coated kitten named Kirlee. Its curls come from a different gene than the Cornish Rex.

Devons have large ears, big eyes, and a pixie like face. They are mischievous, social, and love to perch on shoulders.

Care Tips

Their delicate coat needs gentle handling and an occasional wipe or bath. Provide plenty of play and warm resting spots.

Fun Fact

Fans sometimes call the Devon Rex a poodle cat because of its wavy coat and fun loving attitude.

Is This Breed Right for You?

Every cat is an individual, so meet the cat before you decide. Think about your schedule, grooming time, other pets, and children in the home. Breed rescues and Ohio shelters often have purebred and mixed breed cats waiting for homes, and adult cats come with personalities you can see right away.

Health Basics

Schedule a checkup soon after adoption, keep vaccines and parasite prevention current, and ask your veterinarian about health issues common to the breed. Responsible breeders should share health screening results and welcome your questions.
