The Bengal tiger lives mainly in India, with smaller populations in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan. Tigers are the largest cats in the world, and males can weigh well over 400 pounds.

Unlike lions, tigers are solitary hunters. They stalk prey such as deer and wild pigs, using their striped coats as camouflage in tall grass and forest shadows.

Amazing Facts

No two tigers have the same stripe pattern, much like human fingerprints. Tigers are also strong swimmers and often cool off in rivers and pools.

Conservation

Tigers are listed as endangered, but protected reserves in India have helped wild numbers grow in recent years, a hopeful sign for the species.

Watch Responsibly

Whether you are on safari, in a national park, or at an Ohio zoo, give wild animals space, follow posted rules, and never feed wildlife. Supporting accredited zoos and conservation groups helps protect these animals and their habitats for future generations.
